How to choose the tour

The departure point decides most of it. Culebra day trips on this site leave either from a marina in Fajardo or from the ferry terminal in Ceiba, so the tour that fits you is usually the one closest to where you sleep and the one whose length matches how early you are willing to start.

If you sleep in San Juan or on the north coast

A single long day works best, because the drive east has to be done before the boat leaves. The ferry trip with turtle snorkeling and Flamenco Beach runs 10 hours from the Ceiba ferry terminal and keeps everything, including about two hours of guided snorkeling at Playa Tamarindo, inside one booking. If you would rather be on a boat all day than on a ferry, the full day to Flamenco Beach leaves the marina at 8:00am and lasts 7 hours.

If you sleep in Fajardo, Ceiba or Luquillo

Short transfers open up the 6-hour options. The all-inclusive reef and beach day meets at 8:00am at the gray gazebo with the orange roof in front of the parking lot and snorkels two or three reefs before a white-sand beach stop. The catamaran day from Puerto del Rey Marina spends about 50 minutes cruising and 1.5 hours anchored over a reef off Culebra's west coast, with the afternoon beach chosen by the captain according to the day's conditions. The comparison of the four boat trips from the Fajardo side sets these alongside each other.

If you want the day in English

English is the working language on several of these days. The briefing and the ecological interpretation on the Flamenco Beach full day are in English, the ferry trip with turtle snorkeling is led in English, and the catamaran day from Puerto del Rey also runs in English.

If the budget is tight

The lowest starting prices are on the ferry-based day, from $146 per adult, and the 7-hour guided snorkel at Carlos Rosario with a deli buffet lunch, from $162 per adult. Both include the guided time in the water, so the saving does not come out of the snorkeling itself.

If you want small numbers or your own boat

Group sizes vary a lot here: up to 32 people on the ferry day and on the Flamenco Beach day, up to 33 on the all-inclusive reef day, up to 40 on the guided Carlos Rosario day and up to 60 on the catamaran from Puerto del Rey. For complete privacy, the 7.5-hour charter from Sunbay Marina takes up to 6 people and is priced from $1292 for the whole boat rather than per seat, which is what makes it worth comparing for a family or a group of friends travelling together.
